About Paul Burgess Chief Development Engineer
A graduate of Coventry University, Paul was selected by Gordon Murray to become the third member of the BRABHAM Formula 1 design team – yes just 3 pencil wielding designers created championship winning cars and introduced Formula 1 to refuelling using a beer barrel! Character building experience with BMW GTP cars in the USA and Formula 3000 in Europe followed before Paul returned to F1 with ONYX Grand Prix as Design & Race Engineer. A 3rd place finish in the first year of racing after the rigours of Pre-qualifing at 8am on friday morning was a satisfying achievement. Short spells at Coloni and Andrea Moda F1 in Italy highlighted how not to go racing but you can’t beat the products of Parma and Emilia-Romagno and tasting them on home soil is not to be missed. A season at Ketteringham Hall, the ghost filled headquarters of the late Colin Chapman’s beloved TEAM LOTUS preceded a settled spell at TYRRELL F1 in the design office for Paul. Indianapolis beckoned and Paul joined the design team at G-FORCE, a new constructor chosen to manufacture cars for the Indy Racing League. Promotion to Chief Designer of the Indy 500 winning GF05 and being awarded the Louis Schwitzer Prize by the SAE are among his career highlights.
Paul in currently woking on the Kar Go project which is being developed in our factory in Small Dole.
