Pilgrim V8 history

A ride down memory lane

The Pilgrim V8 story is a compelling one. From humble beginnings in a small lock-up garage in the 1960s creating single car-builds to a fully-functioning large factory in the mid-eighties, our huge success was largely down to our recreation of the famous AC Cobra and, a few years later, the 356 Speedster. We gained world recognition for these models, and both replicas were – and remain – very popular, in both factory-built or car kit form.

Along the way, we’ve also built other cars/kits, including the Bulldog, Family Tourer, Haldane, Jeepster, Hawthorn, Minotaur, Martini and, of course, the ever-famous Sumo Mk1, Mk2 and the current Mk3.

Our cars are manufactured in-house. We fabricate chassis, suspension components and manifolds and many other parts in our metal shop. We produce our body shells in our fibreglass and laminating workshop from our own moulds.

After nearly 40 years of car manufacturing expertise, we decided to open our facilities to the classic car restoration and service business. But we’ve always kept true to our manufacturing roots. In 2019 we produced ‘KarGo’, the World’s first totally autonomous delivery vehicle, for the Academy of Robotics.

Over the years, we’ve been lucky to receive some amazing recommendations from various media organisations and outlets. Evolving the business has always been a priority for us, and we pride ourselves on our team of highly skilled craftsmen.
